Meriden area drowned in the ocean off South Kingstown RL Sunday while rescuing his fiancee from swiftly flowing waters According to South Kingstown Police Tomas Pepin 33 of 1525 Corbin Ave and Anna Wodjewodka of Wallingford were crossing a sand bar near Cards Pond when the sand gave way underfoot and she was pulled into the -water Pepin entered the water to push her to safety but was himself swept out about lOQ yards from shore Wodjewodka was pulled to safety by other beach- goers- Pepin was pronounced dead at South County Hospital A native of New Britain he had been a student at St Stanislaus School in Meriden was a graduate of Xavier High School in Middletown and of Middlesex Community College He 'attended the University of New York and New York School of Design and was
